Textual analysis

Image result for star wars poster

 1) What type of text is it?
This is a movie poster of a film called star wars the force awakens.#

2) How do you know? What are the key conventions that allowed you to identify the text?
I know this is a movie because of mainly the advertisement at the bottom reveals its a movie and coming to a cinema near you on that date. Also if you look at the central image the main character is holding a weapon that is far more advanced then our day and age. So we can identify that it is a sci-fi film being advertised. Lastly the text on screen is futuristic and is already a well established and reconised name.

3) In your opinion, who is the target audience for this media text?]
I think that this film was targeted to an older audience maybe 16 + because this film is firstly nostalgic to most older people as star wars has been coming out for years. But because of all the weaponry and sci-fi on screen this film is also targeted to teens because this is something teens would enjoy. Also the main character looks young so could relate to younger people more.

4) How would this audience access the text? E.g. where/when would they consume it? Using what device?
Firstly through the cinemas as that is where they are screened first but once its out they can easily watch this on their own t.v and any mobile/tablet devices even a computer and laptop.

5) What values, ideologies and beliefs in society are reinforced or challenged in this media text?
Because the main character on the image is a female this movie could be promoting the subverting of the stereotype that women are week as the main women looks intense and ready to fight.
